Lt. Rick Borkin
was born on February
28, 1966 in Milwaukee and died in
the Line of Duty during a training
evolution in Firefighter II class on
December 8, 2008 at the age of 42.
Lt. Borkin is survived by his wife
Stephanie and son Sam.
Lt. Borkin began his 16 year
career with the Thiensville Volunteer Fire
Department in 1992. In 1993, he became a WI
licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
In 1997, he completed his Firefighter I
training and served the Village of
Thiensville in both these capacities.
In 2006, Lt. Borkin completed
his Driver Operator training and in 2007, he
completed his Aerial Operator training. In
May of 2008, Borkin was promoted to Training
Lieutenant.
Lt. Borkin gave his time,
talent and enthusiasm to the Village of
Thiensville without hesitation and was
deeply committed to the fire service,
training, and education. Known for his
infectious smile and kindness, Lt. Borkin
served with integrity and character, setting
an example for his colleagues and the next
generation of Thiensville Fire Department
members.
